The Department of Health through the Office of Healthcare Licensing and Surveys (HLS) is the governing body that licenses assisted living facilities and nursing homes in the state of Wyoming.

There are two different levels of licensing in the state of Wyoming for assisted living facilities. The first is Level 1, which does not have a secure unit. This means that there is no lock down necessary at the facility because the residents are not flight risks. The second is Level 2, and that does have a secure unit in case of flight risk in memory care and Alzheimer’s care residents, which also requires a separate license.

Room Unit Requirements for Assisted Living Facilities in Wyoming

There must be a minimum of 120 square feet for private resident units in all assisted living facilities in Wyoming. If they are shared, then a minimum of 80 square feet for each occupant is required, not including closets, freestanding wardrobe, lockers, foyers, kitchen, bathroom, alcoves, any recessed rooms, or any space occupiers such as bookcases that are recessed in the wall. Door swing is not included in the free floor space calculations.

A maximum of two senior care facility residents are allowed per assisted living unit. In the bathrooms, one toilet and one sink must be provided for every two beds. 1 tub or shower unit must be provided for every 10 senior residents.

Payment Options and Costs for Assisted Living in Wyoming
