Single occupancy rooms must have an 80 square foot floor space apart from bathrooms, closets, alcoves of any other room other than living room space. If the Michigan assisted living facility is new construction, then 100 square feet is required. New construction means anything built after November 1969. There are a number of bed restriction to 4 in each bedroom.

Each assisted living facility in the state of Michigan must have one full bath for every 8 beds for each floor. There has to be a full bathtub or shower on each floor that is able to accommodate up to 15 residents. Separate staff bathrooms are also required for each floor.
